Overview

Future Crimes, Silly Phrases, and Staying Alive Against the Odds

Titan 4030 is a role-playing game where players take on the challenge of surviving aboard the titular Titan space station while being pursued by psionic justiciars and corrupt law enforcement for a crime they are accused of committing in the imminent future. By using a combination of quick thinking, applying absurd logic to ambiguous phrases, and unleashing massive amounts of havoc across the station the accused players form a posse of fugitives capable of stand escape, redemption, or even all out destruction.

Setting and Lore

Where Corruption Grows and Everyone Knows

When a coordinated attack nearly compromised the established order of power on the massive interstellar Titan space station it unintentionally kicked off a new era of anti-crime violence and intrusive surveillance technology was rapidly deployed across the station. Amidst this tightening of control and contentious monitoring of citizens, a group of mysterious scientists uncovered a form of latent psionic power in the minds of certain individuals aboard the station. This power showed great potential for rendering great feats of strength mundane and acts of wonder a common experience. But control of this power was immediately seized by authorities under the guise of ensuring justice and peace. A task force, known as the Apriori Council, was formed to wield artificial intelligence and the minds of psionics to ensure a guaranteed probability matrix to preempt acts of violence and crime.

It was a doomed venture from the beginning, but as more time the station only spiraled into more chaos and disarray. Psionic energy quickly spread outside of the Apriori Council’s control and when a collective of hackers injected self-replicating junk data into the core systems used for predictions the entire process became unreliable. Yet even knowing the predictions had the potential to be inaccurate, law and order in the station still treated the decrees from the Council as valid verdicts to incarnate or kill the listed individuals. Adding to this broken system of justice was the increase in bribes for the wealthy and affluent to secure power by having their rivals suddenly accused of the worse crimes imaginable. Many fled the station, but nowadays the increased security protocols and laws make leaving impossible for all but the most rich or powerful.

For those accused of a dire crime there is little hope of using reason to plea for non-violent resolution. Fighting for one’s life, whether guilty or not, is a choice thrust upon anyone at any moment aboard the Titan station. The criminal underbelly is not without its own power however, and many find themselves drafted into covert organizations to gain aid for their plight or attempts to take flight to the vast stars beyond. No matter how the accused choses to survive, they will face innumerable obstacles to regain safety and restore hope for their future.
